We’ve had a great week in the classroom learning all about Australia.  We’ve started studying all the amazing animals that live there, creating Aboriginal art, making maps, and reading Aboriginal legends. Next week will be our AMP testing week for the third graders, from March 30^th through April 2^nd, in the mornings.

On April 9^th, we will be going on a field trip to see West High School’s performance of Shrek. We will leave school at 9:30 and returning around 11:30 and be traveling by bus. The cost of the field trip is $8 per student and permission forms will be coming home today. April 9^th is also Denali’s peace concert and the annual fundraiser for our sister school in Malawi, Africa. The dessert auction will begin at 6:00pm and the peace concert will start at 6:30. A pink flyer is coming home today and is requesting help for the event either through set up/clean up or donations of desserts for the auction. Thanks!

I hope you all had a great spring break. We’ve had a busy and fun week in the classroom. We’ve been working on symmetry, question marks, subject and predicates, and finishing up our glacier works.  Our third graders have been practicing for the upcoming AMP testing. The testing will take place March 30^th through April 2^nd in the mornings. I will be one of the proctors for the testing this year. This means that in the morning during these four days I will take half of the third graders to test and our first and second graders will get to be guests in another primary classroom for the morning.

Report cards are coming home today and this is a copy for you to keep. If you have any questions or concerns about your child’s report card, please feel free to contact me. Thanks!

Happy Thursday! We’ve had a busy and fun week in the classroom. We’ve been working on the different parts of a sentence, the parts and types of glaciers, punctuation, and parts of a circle. On Tuesday, we went to the PAC and listened to a wonderful photojournalist talk about her work and show some amazing pictures. This has inspired our class to start taking pictures and learning how to document the activities in our classroom and school through these pictures. Thank you as always to all the helpers, who were able to join us on these last couple trips and to those who are able to take time out of their busy schedules to help us in the classroom. J

I am sending home the homework today that will be due our first Friday back after spring break. On March 18^th at 5:15pm, the intermediate teachers will be having an event for the parents of 3^rd graders to learn more the transition to 4^th grade. It will be in the library and an invite and RSVP is coming home in the third grader’s folders.
