Happy Friday

We’ve had a great week in the classroom. We’ve been working on 3 dimensional figures and calculating the faces, edges, and vertices on them, the different uses of commas, and land and water forms. Today we had a lot of fun taking the train around Anchorage and learning a bit more about the history of our city. Thank you to everyone who has sent in a donation for our classroom’s art project, it is really starting to come along and hopefully you’ll be able to join us at Denali’s gala to see it!
Next week on Thursday, we will be walking to the Pioneer School House and learning about what it would have been like to go to school 100 years ago. Three more permission forms are coming home today for our field trips in May. On Friday, May 8th, we will be taking a bus to the Alaska Native Heritage Center. Since this trip will be taking up a majority of our Friday, we will have spelling tests for that week on Thursday, May 7th. On Tuesday, May 5th and 7th, the Kid’s Don’t Float program will be coming in to do presentations in our classroom on water safety. Then on Thursday, May 14th, we will go to West High School pool to practice our safety skills. This trip will cost $3 per child to cover the cost of renting out the pool and it will also be a driving field trip, so if you can find time in your schedule to join us that would be great! Attached to the permission form is the updated driver form, if you have any questions please see the office. Thanks! Finally, on Tuesday, May 19th, we will be walking to Valley of the Moon Park for our end of the year picnic. We will spend the majority of the day there playing, eating, and celebrating the end of the school year! J

Happy Friday!

We’ve had a great week in the classroom. We’ve been continuing to explore Australia and finish up out biography posters. We also made geometrical stars using our knowledge of points, line segments, and rays and worked on apostrophes and contractions. On Thursday, we went to see Shrek at West High School. Before going to the musical, we read the picture book that inspired the movie. It was really interesting to compare and contrast the three differed interpretations of the story. Mr. Chuck, our music teacher, would love if we could all find our recorders and bring them for rest of our music classes. J
Two permission forms are going home today. One is for our Centennial train ride at the Alaska Railroad on Friday, April 24th. We will be walking to the train station and then taking a train ride out to Westchester Lagoon. We will be leaving school around 9:15am and returning around 12:15pm. The second one is for the Pioneer School House on Thursday, April 30th. The Pioneer School House will recreate what it would have been like to go to school in 1915. We will be walking and leaving Denali at 12:30pm and returning to the school around 3pm.
