Happy Friday!

Happy Friday! We’ve had a great week here in the classroom. We’ve been working on nouns, suffixes, timelines of earth and life on earth, and introducing the different biological kingdoms.
Yesterday, we had quite the surprise with the earthquake, but everyone did just great during the whole time. Everyone stayed calm and knew just what to do. On October 1st, Denali is having a movie night from 5:15-7:15. They will be playing Monsters University and parents are welcome to come and watch the movie also or attend the PTSA meeting. There will also be an option to order pizza or bring in your own food.

Upcoming Dates:

·      Snack Schedule:
Monday: Edison
Tuesday: Kaaliyah

Happy Friday!

We’ve had a great week here in the classroom. We’ve been learning about the beginning of the earth and life on earth and exploring different science experiments to help us better visualize these amazing events. We’ve also been working on parts of a line and different types of nouns. Yesterday, we got to meet author Julia Cook, who has written a number of children’s books on all sorts of different topics. She read some of her books to us, one of which has even been released in print yet, and talked to us both about publishing book and different social emotional learning topics like making friends, having a social filter, dealing with anxiety, and staying safe. We also welcomed two new first graders into our classroom this week!
Thank you all for the wonderful snacks that have been coming in these last few weeks! The children are loving them and doing a great job setting up snack and making sure everyone is able to move through snack during the morning.

Upcoming Dates:

·      Snack Schedule:
Monday: Carly
Tuesday: Evan

Happy Friday!

We’ve had a busy and fun week here in the classroom. Last Friday we had a great trip to the Pyrahs Pioneer Peak Farm. We braved the rainy weather and tromped through the mud to learn all about the different kinds of vegetables grown on the farm, pick some of our own, and take a hayride through the farm. Thanks so much to all the wonderful parent volunteers who were able to join us! On Monday, we prepared and cooked some of vegetables we had picked to make our own “stone” soup. It was quite delicious. Be on the look out for some pictures of our trip and soup making on our classroom website. We also started up geometry lesson and are learning about/reviewing compound words this week.
The canned food drive at Denali has been extended and we will be continuing to collect non perishable food until Friday, September 19th. Thanks!

Upcoming Dates:

·      Wednesday, September 18th: School Pictures

·      Snack Schedule:
Monday: Maggie
Tuesday: Max
Wednesday: Karina
Thursday: Kailey
Friday: Piper

Happy Friday!

It was great to see everyone who stopped by at the open house yesterday. Homework packets are going out today and are due back next Friday.  In the packet you will find a homework menu. This menu has a list of choices for you and your child to pick from for homework. It is divided into spelling, reading, and math. Spelling lists are located on the back of the homework menu. Yesterday each group got to pick their name for their spelling group and we definitely got some fun names again! J
Go Math Workbooks are going home again this year to be used as a homework option. On the Homework Log there is a list of the chapters that the district wants teachers to focus on for this quarter. You can pick a work page from those chapters to count as a homework assignment. You can also have your child do the pages as extra practice. We may or may not have covered a specific topic when you choose that page. So, you may have to help your child with it. Again, this is just an option. As we are using Go Math as a supplement to our Montessori Curriculum, we may not go in the exact order that the Go Math goes. The workbooks are to stay at home. Please just send in the page they completed or just mark the box and keep the workbook intact. Let me know if you have any questions about homework.
Thank you for all the wonderful snacks this week, we all really appreciate the nutritious goodies! A big thanks to everyone who also volunteered to chaperone our field trip today to the farm! J

Upcoming Dates:

·      Wednesday, September 18th: School Pictures

Tomorrow's Field Trip

Just a reminder that tomorrow, Friday the 5th, is our field trip to the farm! We are leaving first thing in the morning, hopefully by 9:15am. Right now the forecast is calling for rain tomorrow, so be sure to dress warmly and bring your rain gear. It should be a lot of fun! :)
