Happy Friday!

We had a busy week here in the classroom. We’ve been working on classifying triangles by angles, using pronouns, and finishing up our work on Asia. We have also been working being respectful of each other and using kind words. Today was our field trip to the Public Lands and to see the start of the Fur Rondy Races downtown. We learned all about Alaskan animals and we got to see the sled dogs up close for the races. It was a lot of fun!

On Wednesday, March 9^th, we will be going to the museum to explore the new Near the Bear exhibit and see a show in the planetarium. We will be leaving Denali at 9:45 and returning at 2:00pm. This is a free field trip and we will be eating lunch at the museum. On Thursday, March 3^rd , there will be a parent tea for the third grade parents at 5:30 in Denali’s library. This is a change for the third grade parents to meet the intermediate teachers and ask any questions about the transition to 4^th grade. Denali is also participating the Jump Rope for Heart and I packed is going home about this program.

We earned a tally party and after a very close classroom vote, it was decided that will have a game/read in day on Friday, March 4^th. Your child is invited to bring in a game to share and/or a book to read (as long as it is small enough to fit in their backpack and they can carry it on their own). Thanks! Snack calendars are also going home today for the month of March.

We had a fun short week here in the classroom. Thanks so much to everyone for signing up and coming to your conferences. It is so exciting to see you children explain their work and show confidence in all that they know! Just a reminder that next Friday, February 26^th, we will be heading downtown to visit the Anchorage Public Lands Informational Center and to see the start of the Fur Rondy dog sled races. We will be leaving Denali at 9:30am and returning around 12:30. Please make sure your child brings warm clothing and it should be a really fun time. If I have not received a permission form for your child for this trip, another one will be coming home today. Thanks!

We had a busy week here in the classroom. We have been working on finishing up our reflections for parent teacher conferences and learning all about the interesting animals that live in Asia. Thanks so much to everyone who has signed up for their parent teacher conference time. Please note that Deanli’s Peace Concert has changed dates. It will now be on Wednesday, February 24^th. We had a great week here in the classroom. We have been working on triangles, homophones, and the different animals and countries of Asia. Next Friday is our field trip to West High School to see their production of the Little Mermaid. If I have not received a permission form yet, another one will come home today. That Friday, the 12^th, will also be our Valentine’s Day celebration, so spelling tests will take place on Thursday.

On Thursday, February 25^th, Denali will be having their peace concert. This is a fundraiser for our sister school in Malawi. Please see the two handouts coming home for more information and chance to help out with this event.  Next Thursday, the 11^th, is spring picture day. Picture order forms are coming home today.
