Happy Friday!

We’ve having a busy week here in the classroom. We’ve been working on suffixes, our math operations and facts, globe maps and continents, and biomes. We also had the second great lesson and talked about the evolution of life on our planet. Next Friday we will be heading to West to see their production of Aladdin. If I have not received your permission form, I have included another one in today’s homework folder. Please remember your child cannot attend the field trip if I do not have a signed permission form. Thanks! Since we will be gone on our field trip for most of the morning, we will be doing spelling tests on Thursday, the 8^th, for this week only.

On Tuesday, the 13^th, we will have another field trip! We are going to the Museum to see the new Van Gogh Alive exhibit. Due to our partnership with the Museum this will be a free field trip. We will be leaving at 9:45am and returning around 1:30pm. Also next Thursday and Friday, the 8^th and 9^th, the life skills classes here at Denali will be selling popcorn at the end of the day to raise money for their field trips. It is $1 per bag.

Pictures are coming home today and please note that picture retakes have been rescheduled for the 15^th of October. This year for parent teacher conferences, you will be able to electronically sign up for a conference time. Beginning on October 7^th, you can go on line at http://www.asdk12.org/ConferenceScheduling/StudentScheduleStartExt.aspx and select Denali Montessori and grade 1 (even if your child is in second or third grade, select grade 1). My name should appear in a drop down menu under team name. Then select what date you would like to book and press continue. From there you should be able to see all the available times for a conference. Select a time that works best for you and then enter your child’s name and then your email if you would like a reminder of your conference time. If for some reason you are unable to use the conference scheduler or cannot access the internet, there will be a place set up in office to access the schedule and/or I can provide assistance.
